The Graduate Sales Programme back in 2014 is where I started my career at CDW UK, seeing it as a great opportunity to gain experience in the Technology Sector. I’d planned on moving on to a more technical role elsewhere, but after 7 years, I’m still here developing and working in an amazing team!
I started the Sales Programme with zero sales experience and a technical degree, but quickly gained experience and a vast amount of support from leaders. CDW pushed the team and I to succeed, leaning on skills that we already had. It was great fun and led to a lot of engagement with the wider organisation, particularly through initiatives and growth opportunities. As time went on at CDW, I quickly realised I should give being a technical resource a shot... After all, what did I have to lose?
After meeting new people, getting involved in technical teams, and interviewing with management; I was rewarded with the move into Solutions Organisation, starting as a Solutions Specialist. Being welcomed with open arms and engaging with industry experts allowed me to really get stuck into the job quickly.
Taking this plunge was made effortless, thanks to the training plans, development initiatives and shadowing of co-workers. I was given the opportunity to lead new avenues of discovery, developing go-to-market strategies and sales material, as well as defining what technology our customers needed to succeed. Eye opening is an understatement; for a young ‘wannabe’ architect, the support from CDW was invaluable to my career, as I grew from a graduate into a subject matter expert.
I hope this has helped the graduates of today look at CDW as a start to their future careers. They have been incredibly supportive in my journey, especially given the current global situation. The move to remote working was seamless, as I (as well as my co-workers) were provided with everything required to do my job safely. Initiatives like Mental Health breaks and quiz/game nights has helped me stay connected to my team, helping make the most of our time away from the office. So, where do you see yourself CDW possibilities taking you?
